Bite rehabilitation can help ensure a younger look!
Attrition of teeth, a normal aging process, affects the condition of teeth adversely. As our teeth wear and become shorter, the height of our bite also becomes shorter (in some cases it collapses), and alters the resting positions of our jaws.
For certain individuals the normal wear and tear process can become accelerated due to issues such as severe bruxism (grinding), periodontal disease, extractions, and trauma.
The functional changes, if left untreated, produce the effect of making us appear older than our chronological age. Our smile changes, causing our lip structures (especially the upper lip) to flatten out, or even sink in. The resting position of the jaw also closes, further accentuating an aging mouth malformation.
To treat severe wear problems and restore your smile, Dr. HagShenas determines the correct position of your bite using dental appliances to examine and diagnose the severity of occlusal problems. He then completes a diagnostic wax-up process with his selected laboratory technician.
This allows Dr. HagShenas to create a set of provisional restorations that his patients could comfortably wear for correcting their bites and normalizing their occlusion. These custom temporaries allow patients to “test” their new bite and new jaw positions and to also test for their correct speech patterns.
The revised provisional restorations provide the technical data needed by Dr. HagShenas and his ceramist for fabricating premium custom restorations, thus enhancing the patient’s smile in the most predictable way.
After the completion of treatment, the patient’s face no longer has a square appearance. The upper and lower lip support now has been improved dramatically. Invariably, the patients are thrilled with the outcome, looking and feeling years younger.
